About the AGU Ethics and Equity Center
The AGU Ethics and Equity Center addresses the issues of bias, harassment and discrimination by curating and sharing resources for cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive scientific community. The Center also works to encourage responsible conduct in science and provide the leading best practices and tools so that all in the Earth and space science community are welcomed and better equipped to succeed.
Led by AGU, the Ethics and Equity Center benefits from partnerships with the societies and organizations listed below. As a global association supporting 130,000 enthusiasts and experts in Earth and space sciences, AGU ethics, diversity and inclusion are paramount to its mission, and are key elements in the AGU Strategic Plan.
AGU works to advance solution-based science and discoveries that accelerate knowledge and inform actions that are ethical, unbiased and respectful of communities and their practices. AGU’s programs include scholarly publishing, convening virtual and in-person events and providing support for students and scientists at all stages of their careers.
Meet our team
National Center for Professional & Research Ethics, the American Geosciences Institute, the Association for Women Geoscientists, the Carnegie Institution for Science, the Earth Science Women’s Network, the Ecological Society of America, the Geological Society of America and the International Association for Promoting Geoethics.
The International Association for Promoting Geoethics is a multidisciplinary, scientific platform for widening the discussion and creating awareness about problems of Ethics applied to the Geosciences.

- Developing and promoting educational workshops and trainings.
- Implementing climate assessment tools that allow benchmarking and comparative studies.
- Distributing data management tools supporting studies to address the impacts of diversity, ethics and inclusion practices.
- Developing best practices resources and trainings to address the issues of diversity and inclusion in science.
